Barcelona Pavilion This Project required us to chose a famous building and recreate it using ArchiCad 11, this was the first time many of us had used an ArchiCad program. I chose to recreate Meis Van Der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion. The Barcelona Pavilion also known as the 'German Pavilion' was first built in 1929 in Barcelona, Spain for the German Government. This building was hailed "the most beautiful building of the century" by modernist. It was built for the 1929 International Exposition and was used for the official opening of the German section of the exhibition, however as it was only an exhibition building it was demolished in 1030. The Barcelona Pavilion was later rebuilt by some Spanish architects with the aid of black and white photos and the original plans from 1983-1986. The Barcelona Pavilion consisted of a steel frame with glass and polished stone. |
